New kit offers easy way to upgrade planters with individual row shut-offs Using electricity to drive each seed plate on a
row planter, the Electric Planter Drive (EPD) kit replaces the cumbersome, maintenanceintensive chains, sprockets and bearings of a hydraulic drive system, reducing repair and downtime costs. It eliminates the need for row clutches, does variable rate seeding on a rowby- row basis and even works without a variable rate system. Now, farmers with twin-row planters can use variable rate mapping and keep paired rows in time. Made by Graham equipment, the easy-to-install kit is adaptable to any make and year of single- or twin-row planter and interfaces with any major GPS guidance system. One EPD kit includes a control board, a weatherproof harness and housing and four electric motors, each rated for 5000 hours of operation. A 16-row planter would need 4 EPDs. With a planting error of just 0.7 percent, this system adjusts instantly to population rate changes. A wireless, touchscreen controller/monitor is optional.
Our patent-pending Electric Planter Drive (EPD) kit is available for any make/year of planter.
One EPD kit contains; one control board, a weatherproof harness using Deutsch connectors and housing plus four electric motors. Each motor is rated for 5000 hours of operation.
It easily installs and interfaces with any of the major variable rate systems.
If you don't have a variable rate system, no problem, our system will still work!!!
Our control algorithm is completely closed-loop. Meaning extreme accuracy and instant adjustment to population rate changes. Our system has an error of 7 tenths of 1 percent (0.7%) and will react to rate changes in less than two tenths of a second. Rate changes are pretty much instant. View real time data right here.
Our EPD also interfaces with row/section shutoff's on your guidance system. Besides eliminating the cumbersome and maintenance intensive hydraulic drive system, when you use our EPD, you will have individual row shut-offs.
Most single row planters will not require any chains or sprockets, so No-Till farmers won't waste time re-installing chains while planting.
Our EPD system is not only more accurate than a hydraulic drive but price wise it is cheaper to convert a ground drive to our system compared to installing a hydraulic drive and row clutches.
Twin row farmers will finally be able to utilize variable rate mapping and keep paired rows in time.
If you are a seed corn grower, you will appreciate that our EPD can not only do variable-rate but also each row's population can be set to be a percentage of the main population. For example, if you need to plant the outer two rows at 80% population, its easy with our system and you don't have to change sprockets. Each row can be easily configured using our wireless touch-screen monitor.
The monitor will display the Master Population, Row Population, Master/Row ratio, Target percentage and the row control state.
The Master Population is the population the guidance system is requesting.
Row Population is the population of each electric motor.
Target percentage is the user-selected percentage of the Master RPM.
Master/Row ratio is the real time number.
The up/down arrows allow you to scroll through rows, while the tool icon gives you quick access to each rows target percentage and lets you quickly change it if desired.
The beauty of our touch screen monitor is it only requires a power and ground connection. Communication between the planter drives and the monitor is wireless.
This system is available for single and twin row planters. Depending on the row count of your planter and your tractors alternator, you may need a hydraulically driven alternator on the planter. If you are considering upgrading your planter with individual row shut-offs, you need to consider our electric drive system.
