The LEDP10W-200E 200 watt, high intensity LED light bar is an extremely powerful and rugged lighting solution that gives operators in the most demanding environments the ability to illuminate large areas with maximum effectiveness. This industrial grade LED light bar produces 17,200 lumens of light output, yet uses only 200 watts of power at 16.7 amps of current draw on a 12 volt electrical system.
This high power and extremely efficient operation makes this unit very well suited to applications such as commercial fishing and open pit mining where standard 120-240 VAC power sources are unavailable or impractical and power must be supplied by batteries, equipment, or portable power supplies such as battery banks or generators.

This industrial grade LED light features heavy duty construction designed to give the light the ability to withstand even the most abusive environmental and working conditions including -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius temperatures.
The housing on this fixture is formed from heavy gauge extruded aluminum for light weight and high strength, and an unbreakable polycarbonate lens provides protection for the LED assembly from impacts, debris and moisture. The entire assembly is IP68 rated, meaning it can withstand prolonged submersion at three meters without any effect on performance, making it impervious to the effects of driving rain, water spray under pressure, and areas of high humidity.
The heavy duty construction of the housing on this LED light bar combined with the solid state design of the LED assembly also makes this light fixture extremely resistant to damage from heavy vibration and impacts, an added benefit for applications where the light is mounted to heavy equipment or industrial machinery. The LED assembly on this light features advanced LED drivers that allow the connection of dimmers and pulse controllers to produce a variety of operating functions including dimming, strobing and flashing effects.
The emitters are CREE XLamp MC-E® units that have been chosen for their extreme high output and excellent reliability. These LED lights measure 33 inches long by 4 inches high, giving them a long and low profile that makes mounting in tight spaces easy and practical.

Mounting is through included aluminum mounting blocks equipped with rubber isolators for added vibration resistance that slide along the housing for added mounting versatility. These lights can operate on any voltage ranging from 9 to 46 VDC, making them an ideal lighting solution for commercial fishermen, large scale construction sites, military and law enforcement professionals, and anywhere high intensity lighting that can be run from vehicles or heavy equipment is needed.
“The LEDP10W-200E LED light easily outperforms 1000 watt metal halides while working on low voltage DC power,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ LarsonElectronics.com. “These ruggedly constructed lights with watertight construction can withstand the salt, water, vibration and abusive weather conditions so often found while boating and fishing.”

Purina Animal Nutrition Launches “Cool Cow” App
Purina Animal Nutrition Launches “Cool Cow” App
Purina Animal Nutrition LLC introduces the Cool Cow app for smart phones.
The Cool Cow mobile app puts the tools dairy producers need to monitor and address heat stress at their fingertips. Research shows that cows can begin to show the effects of heat stress at a Temperature Humidity Index or THI of 68. Reproduction can be impacted at a THI of 55.
Heat stress and an associated 10 percent to 35 percent milk production loss may cost a dairy producer $1.60 to $5.60 per cow per day. These losses can continue to mount when reductions in reproductive performance and increased days open are added into the equation.
“With the new Cool Cow mobile app, dairy producers will know when temperatures have reached levels that are stressful to the cow,” says Elena Lindemann, lactating livestock marketing director with Purina Animal Nutrition LLC. “This new tool is designed to assist dairy producers in mitigating the negative financial impacts of heat stress.”
The mobile app features an easy to use heat stress calculator for inputting the current temperature and humidity readings. The temperature and humidity is then translated into a THI reading that shows the severity of heat stress, ranging from mild to extreme risk; providing dairy producers insight on the current conditions inside their barn.
In addition to the heat stress calculator, the mobile app offers tips on mitigating heat stress from management to nutrition.
The Cool Cow mobile app is available to download for Android phones at: http://bit.ly/AndriodCoolCow and for iPhones at: http://bit.ly/iPhoneCoolCow.

Juniper Systems Handhelds Take On the Power of RFID
Juniper Systems Handhelds Take On the Power of RFID
Juniper Systems is excited to announce that it will now be offering RFID options for its existing rugged handheld computers, thanks to its recent business partnership with IDBLUE®. This partnership will allow Juniper Systems to provide the IDBLUE RFID reader as part of a bundled package, or as a separate product which can be used with any Bluetooth®-equipped Juniper Systems rugged handheld computer.
“We are very excited to now offer RFID options for our handhelds,” said Josh Egan, Product Manager at Juniper Systems. “We’ve had many customers request RFID capabilities as a cost-effective means to track, maintain, and manage their assets, so we are moving in this direction to respond to their needs. The IDBLUE reader is the perfect add-on for those customers who want RFID capabilities, but don’t want to make the investment in all new hardware.”
Mark Murphy, VP of Marketing at IDBLUE said, “We are thrilled at the new opportunities that will arise from this partnership. Our RFID Bluetooth® readers will perfectly complement the product line-up at Juniper Systems. The result is field data collection solutions that will ultimately provide more data insight and drive greater value for both new and existing clients, especially those operating in more rugged and hazardous environments.”
Because RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology works well in extreme and rugged environments, it has become a preferred data capture tool over barcode scanning for many applications. Over the past few years, RFID technology has matured greatly and has become increasingly cost-effective, resulting in many markets viewing it as a viable solution for their data collection.
Unlike barcode scanning technology, RFID technology utilizes electromagnetic radio waves to transmit information. RFID tags are specially designed to operate in rugged environments and to store specific data. The IDBLUE reader is intended for short-range applications, enabling users to narrow down on a specific asset’s data, making the IDBLUE/Juniper Systems pack particularly appealing for asset management and tracking.
The IDBLUE reader is an economical solution for customers who want flexible RFID capabilities. The pen-shaped RFID reader doubles as a capacitive stylus and features a pocket-sized, ergonomic design. It is available in both HF (high frequency) and UHF (ultra-high frequency) and has a pending Class I, Division 2 certification for hazardous locations. When used with Juniper Systems rugged handhelds, together they form an impressive duo for data collection in rugged environments. Juniper Systems and IDBLUE will be showcasing their products at the RFID Journal LIVE trade show held April 30 – May 2, 2013 in Orlando, FL.
Juniper Systems is now accepting orders for the IDBLUE reader. For additional information, customers may contact their Juniper Systems sales representative or email Juniper Systems at sales@junipersys.com.

New building designed to boost beef performance
New building designed to boost beef performance
Two Iowa-based companies recently announced a new design in beef building construction they say will improve animal performance and producer profitability.
The release comes from Brookstone Agricultural Buildings, Boone, Iowa, and Energy Panel Structures (EPS) of Graettinger.
The barns are engineered to maximize performance gains that are possible when cattle can grow in a more controlled, consistent environment, the companies said in a media release.
“Traditionally beef cattle have been raised in open feedlots where they are exposed to weather extremes,” says Matt Herrick, beef barn project manager with Brookstone. “But, just because cattle are tough enough to survive the challenges of extreme heat and cold, doesn’t mean they are growing to their genetic potential or that the producer is capturing the full value of the animal at market.”
The barns are designed to capture the sun’s heat during cold winter months and protect livestock from the sun in summer, encouraging continual growth and potentially increasing days to market, the companies said
The EPS Cattle Barns are touted as “the industry’s only glue-laminated beam construction for clear span of up to 30 feet.” The feature offers greater flexibility for pen design, improved working conditions and more options for bedding and manure management. The design also eliminates web trusses, reducing the area on which birds can roost.
Additional EPS Cattle Barn features and benefits include:
• Adjustable roof pitch, front wall and back wall heights to enhance air flow
• Roofline designed to prevent condensation and enhance longevity of roof steel
• Adaptable to deep bedded, deep pits, flush or scraper systems
• Engineered to meet IBC codesFor more information, visit www.epsbuildings.com.
