
Canadian Wheat Production Up 9%, Canola Has Record Harvest
Canada’s total wheat production is up nine percent from a year ago, according to Tuesday’s Statistics Canada report.
Stats Can pegged total Canadian wheat production at 25.26 million tonnes, well above the trade guess of 24.5 million.
Durum production was at the top end of trade guesses at 4.17 million tonnes.
Canola production was a record 14.17 million tonnes, at the top end of trade guesses and up from the 2009 record of 12.9 million tonnes.
Oat production was pegged at 3 million tonnes.
Barley production was lower than expected at 7.75 million tonnes, down from Stats Can’s previous estimate of 7.9 million.
